The Original Series
The Original Series was set in the year 2266 and catalogued the five year mission of the crew of the Constellation class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701. The Original series was, sadly the worst received of all Star Treks. The series was only aired for three seasons, so far the shortest of all Star Treks, after a pounding by the critics. Thankfully the critics were proved wrong when 10 years after the final episode of the series the world's best loved science fiction series was turned into "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", featuring the late Persis Khambatta, as the Deltan, "Lieutenant Ilia". After this followed "The Wrath Of Khan" featuring Kirstie Alley, The Star of "Cheers" and "Veronica's Closet", then "The Search for Spock" with the late Merritt Buttrick, as David Marcus, the son of James T. Kirk . After this followed "The Voyage Home" with the first big screen appearance of the late Mark Lenard as Sarek, then there was "The Final Frontier" and following that was the last film ever to feature the entire original series cast, "The Undiscovered Country".
Almost all of the original cast have made some kind of crossover with the crew of The Next Generation. DeForest Kelley starred in The Next Generation as the 137 year old "Admiral Leonard H. McCoy" in the First ever T.N.G. episoode "Encounter at Farpoint, then to follow was Leonard Nimoy as "Ambassador Spock" in "Reunification", and finally James Doohan turned up unaged as "Captain Montgomery Scott" in the 5th. Season episode "Relics", after surviving in a transporter loop after a crash aboard the U.S.S. Jenolen on his way to the Norpin V retirement colony, where he intended to spend his final years. Also to turn up along side Captain Jean-Luc Picard was William Shatner as "Captain James Tiberius Kirk" in "Star Trek: Generations" which also starred Walter Koenig as "Commander Pavel A. Chekov" and again James Doohan as "Captain Montgomery Scott".
