"SPY" by Mr. Iain MacDonald

First performed at Greenfaulds in 1988, "Spy" is an intriguing tale, involving the quest for an "elixir of life". The Show follows the Union of Socially Repressed Republics (USSR) spies, the U.S. spies and Teuchter, a minister of state for Hobrahee, and her assistant Sybil who are all trying to find the elixir, created by ,eccentric, scientist Ernest Boffin. On their quest for this elixir, we find leader of the USSR spies, Igor Lost, terrified of his superior, Olga Munchkin, when he falls in love with a US spy. Igor is no the only spy with problems, the leaders of the US spies, Laura Guile and Emma Trainer, find themselves in strange situations and consult psychiatrist, Annie Liszt, who help them to understand the source of their problems. Teuchter and Sybil believe they know where the elixir is and inform the press and inhabitants of Hobrahee, however, when they try to go and get it they discover an old, disused, distillery with bottles inside marked "Uisgebeatha", Gaelic for "Water of life" and wonder if that's how the rumours started.
