6th. Year Charity
Every year the sixth year pupils at the school donate the profits from their fundraising
activities to a pre-decided charity.
This year's charity is:
Imperial Cancer Research Fund is a registered UK charity dedicated to saving lives through research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of cancer.
Employing over 1,000 scientific and clinical staff in their own laboratories, hospitals and universities across the United Kingdom, they undertake over one-third of all cancer research in the United Kingdom.
Fund-Raising
The school recently took part in UK trainer day.
On Friday 7th April 2000 thousands of people across the UK joined together to raise vital funds for cancer research, simply by wearing their trainers to work, to school or for whatever it is they were doing on that day.
UK Trainer Day was a fun, different and easy-on-the-feet way of raising money for cancer research. Everyone could get involved.
The grand Total for UK Trainer day at Greenfaulds High School was £245.
On Friday the 14th. April the committe ran a Teachers Vs. Pupils Charity Football Match with ticket sales going to Meningitis and all other money going to Imperial Cancer Research. The Match ended 1 - 0 to the Teachers with a goal in the closing minutes by Mr. R. Bowie. Some other events at the match were a PAWS Cake Stall and a chance to throw water filled sponges at the school's resident "eccentric" Sixth Year, Bruce Leckenby. Thumbnailed Pictures of the event can be found on the 1999 - 2000 Media Archive.
